Default Apropos Mozart website news, February 2010

This recent notice seeming to have disappeared, I am taking the liberty of repeating it. Mozart’s chamber music oeuvre should not be overlooked.

“What's the best way in to Mozart's musical universe? There are many places to begin and “The Mozart Starter” in Group 2 of the website makes specific recommendations. It’s quite usual for people to begin with his symphonies, or the operas, or the piano concertos, but one shouldn’t stop there. Let me break a lance for Mozart’s chamber music.

“The composition of chamber music – string trios, quartets, and quintets, with and without the piano – was important to Mozart and from time to time he devoted much thought to it. Take a detailed look at what the mature Mozart was doing with piano quartets and string quintets in 1785-1787, for example. Go to Konrad Küster’s article, “Twice Three is Five, and Other Experiments” now on the website at www.aproposmozart.com.“

Regards to all,
